President, CEO, CFO and Managing Director, Europe, Dan Kerpelman

Dan Kerpelman

President, CEO, CFO and Managing Director, Europe

Dan Kerpelman has thirty years of professional experience, mostly in healthcare technology. He was previously CEO of Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to SGS, he was president of the $2.7B Kodak Health Imaging Group, and senior vice-president of the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. Dan joined Kodak after seventeen years with GE Healthcare, most recently as general manager of the Global X-Ray business, based in Paris, France.

Dan is a member of the boards of the University of Rochester Medical Center, XCounter AB, Cotecna Group and VirtualScopics, Inc. He has an MBA from Northwestern University, an MS in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, and a Computer Engineering diploma from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in France.


Vice President and CTO, Mike Kamish

20 years ago, Mike Kamish founded Bio-Optronics with innovation and topnotch customer service as his guiding principles. Today, he finds the company's success to be the result of staying true to these core principles.

Mike spent 10 years at Eastman Kodak Company as a Process Control and Instrumentation Engineer. His engineering background and experience in the manufacturing environment have helped him to create some of the best manufacturing workflow solutions in the industry. Mike's singular approach to software design has also made the company's medical and custom applications incomparable in scope and usability.

He earned a Bachelor's degree with High Honors in Chemical Engineering in 1979 from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and a Masters of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Optics from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.


Vice President, COO and Director, Marketing and Customer Support, Maria Durkin

Maria Durkin

Vice President, COO and Director, Marketing and Customer Support

Maria joined Bio-Optronics in September of 2008. Maria brings a diverse background, having worked in research and development, manufacturing, product planning, and commercialization, in a number of Kodak’s Health businesses. Maria also held a number of executive leadership positions. She served as the General Manager of Digital Radiography and, most recently, was the General Manager for Worldwide Services, Healthcare Information Solutions, Carestream Health. Maria has a strong track record of improving processes, driving customer responsiveness, and delivering growth.

Maria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Rochester, as well as an MBA from The William E. Simon School at the University of Rochester.


Medical Advisors


Medical Advisor, Judy Kerpelman, MD Judy Kerpelman, MD

Dr. Kerpelman has been in private practice obstetrics and gynecology for 15 years. Currently, she is assistant managing partner of a busy 10 physician ob/gyn group. She participates in many hospital quality assurance committees, including morbidity and mortality and peer review, which she chairs. She is also a consultant in health dispute resolution for Maximus.

Dr. Kerpelman received an A.B. from Vassar College, where she graduated with honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She received her medical degree at the University of Rochester Medical School, where she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She is a board certified fellow of the American College of Ob/Gyn.

Medical Advisor, Jean Charles Piguet, MD Jean Charles Piguet, MD

Dr. Piguet has over 30 years of medical experience. After serving as chief of one of Switzerland’s largest radiology departments, he went on to found an independent group of imaging centers, including a renowned clinical and academic center of excellence for women’s health.

Dr. Piguet studied at the University of Geneva. In addition to medical practice, he advises most leading manufacturers of mammography equipment and technology. He is a member of the Swiss Radiology Society, the French Radiology Society and the American Roentgen Ray Society. He founded the Seno-Oncology Association of Geneva (SONGe), Mobirad, a mobile radiography public service and consults with other radiologists to improve practice quality and productivity.
