Newest Version of Clinical Conductor Site Clinical Trial Management System Now Available!

Celebrating its 25th year, Bio-Optronics, Inc. is pleased to present the newest version of Clinical Conductor Site Clinical Trial Management System, now in over 600 sites. Driven by customer feedback, there are over a hundred enhancements that users will find make day-to-day use of the software even easier! Bio-Optronics, Leading the Way in Healthcare Workflow Software, Celebrating Its 25th Anniversary Year

Bio-Optronics is celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year. With double-digit growth, we continue to delight customers with our healthcare workflow software solutions.

Bio-Optronics expands business partnerships

In order to strengthen our market presence, we are pleased to announce two exciting new business partnerships.

Jean-Marc Laigle has become our commercial partner focusing on Bio-Optronics sales and business development for France and Belgium. Jean-Marc has 20 years of experience in healthcare technology, most recently as director of worldwide marketing for Carestream Health, and as general manager of the Kodak Health Imaging group in France, Belgium and Holland prior to that.

Similarly, Michael Jackman has become our commercial partner for the Americas. Mike has extensive healthcare and information technology experience, most recently as president of global sales & services for Carestream Health. Previously, Mike served as president of Healthcare Information Solutions for Carestream and Kodak.

Both of these partners will help accelerate Bio-Optronics’ fast-growing presence in the marketplace as a leader of healthcare workflow software solutions, thanks to their experience, knowledge and networks.

Strong showing at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2009 Annual Meeting drives increased interest in Momentum™ Radiology Physician and Staff Scheduler

Bio-Optronics’ booth at the RSNA 2009 95th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting was overflowing with interest in the Momentum™ Radiology Physician and Staff Scheduler solution. Clinical Conductor™ Featured in eCliniqua interview

Bio-Optronics’ Clinical Conductor is featured in an eCliniqua article on the growing adoption of site CTMS. This is due to increasing economic pressures, recruitment challenges, expanding trial complexity, and data management inefficiencies. Currently, about 600 sites of every size and variety are using Clinical Conductor, that’s up from 400 earlier this year. There’s an increasing recognition that implementation of a site-specific clinical trial management system improves operations. Clinical Conductor™ workflow solutions for clinical trials were, once again, very well-received at the annual Site Solutions Summit meeting for clinical trial professionals. And, the launch of our next generation Clinical Conductor Site CTMS was a great success.

Strong showing at Journées Française de Radiologie reaffirms need for Momentum™ Radiology Physician and Staff Scheduler

Bio-Optronics had a very successful showing of the Momentum™ Radiology Physician and Staff Scheduler at the Journess Francaise de Radiologie (JFR), held in Paris, France this past week.

The conference reaffirmed the need for an automated radiology physician and staff scheduling solution that can memorize intricate scheduling policy, build schedules in minutes, make fair assignments, and leave more time for patient care. With a large number of strong leads, international presence and adoption of the Momentum™ scheduling software will continue to grow.

Organized by the Société Française de Radiologie (SFR), JFR was well-attended by radiologists and medical staff from France, and included a myriad of international exhibitors including General Electric, Philips, McKesson, and many others. Penetration of the new Momentum™ portfolio of products will continue to increase.

Dr. Judy Kerpelman joins Bio-Optronics as Chief Medical Officer

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Judy Kerpelman will serve as Bio-Optronics’ Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Kerpelman has been in private practice obstetrics and gynecology for 15 years. Currently, she is assistant managing partner of a busy 10 physician ob/gyn group. She participates in many hospital quality assurance committees, including morbidity and mortality and peer review, which she chairs. She is also a consultant in health dispute resolution for Maximus.

Dr. Kerpelman is an alumnus of Vassar College. She received her medical degree at the University of Rochester Medical School. She is a board certified fellow of the American College of Ob/Gyn.

Bio-Optronics, Inc. Clinical Conductor™ CTMS Surpasses the 100th Customer Mark

Bio-Optronics’ Clinical Conductor division achieved a significant milestone this past week, surpassing the 100th customer mark.

Clinical Conductor Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) is now being used by 106 customers, in more than 370 trial sites. Since its launch in January 2007, Clinical Conductor has been the fastest growing site CTMS on the market, with 150% year-on-year growth. Over 3,100 studies are now managed with Clinical Conductor software, which has also recently expanded to the European market.

This growth rate has been influenced strongly by the fact that the software is easy to use, covers all the functionality a site requires, and is backed by an unparalleled customer support team. Whether converting from an existing CTMS, or a manual operation, Clinical Conductor is quick to deliver benefits.

First Clinical Conductor™ European site operational

Bio-Optronics has launched the international version of Clinical Conductor™ Site Clinical Trial Management System. The first site, MEDICON International A/S, located in Denmark, is up and running. MEDICON has more than 25 years of experience with clinical trials, in phase II, III and IV, and has worked collaboratively with many multinational pharmaceutical companies. CEO Claus Guldfeldt states, “Clinical Conductor was easy to set up and quickly enabled us to gain a good oversight over our different trials. We are not yet using all of the functionality, but gradually will be increasing use of different parts of the program. We are also planning to input earlier trials to get better statistics than we have in the past.” Bio-Optronics is pleased to have MEDICON as its first European customer, and in achieving this significant milestone for expansion into international markets.

Trade Show Update

Bio-Optronics recently attended the SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates) conference in Vancouver, Canada, September 26 to 28. Clinical Conductor was featured in the booth, and drew much attention.

Bio-Optronics will be exhibiting at the MAGI Clinical Trial Agreements, Budgets, and Regulatory Conference to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 12 to 15. In addition to our booth, Mike Kamish, Vice President and Director of Research and Development, will be presenting a case study on how moving to a clinical trial management system improved site efficiency and operations.

Also, Bio-Optronics will have a booth at the Site Solutions Summit taking place October 17 to 19 in Clearwater Beach, Florida. At this conference, Mike Barrett, Vice President and Business Development Director, will be hosting a round-table to gather input and share information among clinical trial sites.

Maria Durkin Joins Bio Team

Maria Durkin joined Bio-Optronics in the role of VP and Director of Marketing and Operations on September 8, 2008. Maria brings a diverse background, having worked in research and development, manufacturing, product planning, and commercialization, in a number of Kodak’s Health businesses. Maria also held a number of executive leadership positions. She served as the General Manager of Digital Radiography and, most recently, was the General Manager for Worldwide Services, Healthcare Information Solutions, Carestream Health. Maria has a strong track record of improving processes, driving customer responsiveness, and delivering growth. Maria’s experience and enthusiasm make her an excellent fit within the Bio-Optronics’ team.

Bio-Optronics’ former Director of Operations, Lisa LaPoint, exited the company in September to pursue a position with another firm. Bio-Optronics’ current Director of Marketing, Rebecca Guerra, will exit the company following a successful transition of her marketing duties to Maria, and will continue to offer consulting services to the company.

Bio-Optronics Moves Headquarters to Larger Facility

Bio-Optronics announced Wednesday that the company had relocated its corporate headquarters to Cambridge Place office park in Rochester, NY. The decision to relocate was based on the company’s need for a larger facility to accommodate its growing team, as the company's workforce has grown 12% since the beginning of the third quarter of 2008. The new offices are spacious and conveniently located by a major highway within Rochester. Company President Dan Kerpelman is extremely satisfied with his decision to move the company.
